How MacroCam Works with Apple Health
MacroCam uses Apple Health to personalize your calorie and macro targets — without manual data entry and without giving up your privacy.
What MacroCam reads from Apple Health
When you allow it, MacroCam reads four profile values from Apple Health to set up your account faster and calculate accurate targets:
- Date of birth — used with your other details to estimate your daily energy needs.
- Biological sex — used in the calorie and macro formula.
- Height — used to estimate your basal metabolic rate.
- Weight — used to set calorie targets and track progress toward your goal.
That is the full extent of what MacroCam reads. It does not read your step count, heart rate, workouts, sleep, or any medical data, and it never writes data back to Apple Health without a future opt-in feature.
How to enable Apple Health in MacroCam
- Open MacroCam and start onboarding.
- Tap the option to use Apple Health when prompted.
- In Apple's permission sheet, approve the requested categories (date of birth, sex, height, weight).
- MacroCam pre-fills your profile. Review each value and edit anything that looks off.
You can change Apple Health access any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → MacroCam on your iPhone.
What MacroCam does with your data
MacroCam uses your Apple Health profile values only to personalize your calorie and macro targets, and it does not sell your personal data or share it with advertisers. You stay in control of what you grant. For the full details, see the MacroCam Privacy Policy.
